The Ivy Hotel, San Diego, CA
The Hudson Hotel is hip — yet, some say, haunted. There's a touch of kitsch 1960's fantasia — you travel up in an escalator trapped in chartreuse glass, and the bar sports a lit floor, Dali chairs, and Louis XVI chairs upholstered in Barbarella silver. read more...

Hotel Hapuku Lodge, Kaikoura, New Zealand
Luxury lodge - the Olive House Apartment and the Lodge rooms are simple and contemporary, and the tree houses (yes, they’re literally tree houses, ten meters off the ground) are as modern as can be, clad in copper shingles and unfinished-looking local woods. read more...

COI, Contemporary Californian
Pink grapefruit composition; wild mushroom raviolo; guinea hen; confit banana. With its monochromatic color scheme, grass-cloth walls, rice-paper-draped ceiling and high banquettes lining two walls of the narrow room, it feels as if it could be used for a modern Japanese tea ceremony. read more...

Donovan House
Donovan House is a lot more than just Manhattan style transplanted to the District of Columbia. The hotel has got an air of Sputnik-era cold-war cool about it, starting with the hanging chairs and modernist wingbacks in the lobby lounge.

Hotel Gansevoort South, Miami, FL
Just as in the New York version, the Gansevoort South is centered around a rooftop pool lounge — in this case with views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline.

the boutique-issue iPod docking stations and 40-inch high-definition televisions (which are nice enough, don’t get us wrong) but also the gym and spa by David Barton and the multiple bars and restaurants, including an Asian restaurant by Philippe Chow and a Miami version of STK, the New York steakhouse.
Like the original, this Gansevoort goes out of its way to cultivate a members’-club atmosphere — selling condo units certainly doesn’t hurt. Prime oceanfront location, sparkling modern design, and a vibrant built-in nightlife; add it all up and it’s the very picture of the modern luxury boutique. read more...

Hotel Naumi, Singapore
Crisp and flamboyant, with clean lines and sober colors livened by expressive touches like brightly-colored design-classic chairs or ornate wallpaper patterns etched into glass. In terms of comforts, the rooms are a step up from the boutique-hotel norm, verging on luxury territory...
...What sets the Naumi apart ultimately is the service. Guests are assigned a “Naumi aide” upon check-in, a sort of concierge-butler-assistant — so you’ll never be on your own. Further thoughtful touches include the ladies-only floor, and the swimming pool, already beyond what’s strictly necessary for a 40-room hotel, and all the more so for its view from the building’s rooftop. read more...

Hotel CRAM Barcelona, Spain
